Introducing Projects: A smarter way to organize and manage your work in IPRally
We're introducing a new feature to help you stay organised and efficient in IPRally: Projects. This update gives you more control over how related patent searches are grouped, reviewed, and managed – making your workflow smoother, cleaner, and easier to manage.

Why Projects?
In an ideal world, a single AI search would suffice and give you all relevant hits for any given use case. While we are progressing towards that, real-life search tasks involve multiple related searches: variations and combinations of free text, publication number, graph and Boolean searches, for example.
Projects help you keep track of results you’ve already seen, collect the most relevant results, and keep context consistent across the board.
Instead of jumping between isolated search cases, you can now create a Project and carry out any number of searches within a dedicated environment. Relevance flags and Comments, as well as Ask AI and Smart filter questions and answers will be shared within the Project. Moreover, documents marked as irrelevant in one search case can be “silenced” in others within the same Project, avoiding double work and maintaining your focus sharp.
A more cohesive workflow
Projects make patent review workflow streamlined:
- You can assign a Relevance score on a 3-grade scale to any document, and that score will apply across all search cases within the project. Note that Relevance is distinct from the popular Favorites feature, which means that you will still be able to use the popular “Zoom to Favorites” on a search by search basis.
- Instead of marking a document as Relevant, you can mark it as Ignored. This reduces noise and redundancy: Ignored documents won’t show up again in other searches in the same project unless you want it to.
- Ask AI messages and Comments are “sandboxed” to the Project, so your insights stay organized and context-specific. You won’t see those metadata across the Project boundaries. Comments and Ask AI messages created outside Projects continue to be visible outside Projects.
This all adds up to less repetition, more clarity, and a faster path to relevant results.
What to expect at launch
In the first version Projects are private to each user - they cannot be shared yet. Also monitoring inside Projects is also not yet possible. Moreover, Tags continue to function globally not being sandboxed by Projects.
These design choices help keep things simple to start, while allowing you to work more efficiently and us collecting feedback on next steps.

Looking ahead
Projects are more than just an organizational and workflow management tool. They also provide a scalable foundation for the next generation of IPRally features, including further AI-assisted and fully automated patent search and analysis workflows.
Imagine for example launching an automated novelty or invalidity search in the future and soon finding multiple searches covering the relevant aspects of the invention, detailed analysis of each document, top results, and insightful search reports - all neatly contained and documented in a new Project.
This approach ensures full transparency of AI actions, and gives you a clear space to continue search and analysis efforts, where automation leaves off.
More on this in the not-too-distant future!
