Introducing Projects
Projects help organize work, keep related searches together, and manage associated metadata

Patent search isn’t a one-off task. It’s a process – a sequence of searches, reviews, and decisions that can easily become fragmented. That’s why we’re introducing Projects: a new way to organize, manage, and accelerate your work in IPRally. Projects act as a “container” for related search tasks, helping you manage multiple searches, capture relevance insights, and keep your work focused.
Key features include:
- Create multiple Searches in a Project – or add existing ones.
- Flag relevance of hits across searches: High, Medium, Low, or Ignored.
- Hide or show documents based on relevance, cutting noise and double work.
- Keep Ask AI questions and comments contained within the Project – no cross-contamination.
- Separate tabs for Relevant and Ignored documents to stay organized.
Projects will evolve to support automation, collaboration, and reporting in future updates.
Projects is available to all Professional and Enterprise license users and you can read more in our release blog here.

Sorting by priority date
Enhanced results sorting for more effective patent analysis

We've expanded our sorting capabilities to give you greater control over how you view and analyze your patent results. While AI scoring and Published date have been popular sorting options, we're now introducing Priority date sorting in response to your feedback.
This new sorting option allows you to:
- Arrange patents chronologically based on their earliest claimed priority
- Quickly identify pioneering technologies within your results set
- Trace the evolution of innovations over time with greater precision
Priority date sorting provides a crucial temporal dimension to your patent analysis, helping you understand the historical development of technologies and identify true innovations. This update streamlines your workflow whether you're conducting freedom-to-operate analyses, exploring the competitive landscape, or assessing the novelty of your own innovations.
Find this new sorting option in the results view dropdown menu, alongside our existing sorting capabilities.

Image Search for Lite License users
Empowering R&D teams to conduct visual patent searches with unprecedented ease

We're excited to announce that our powerful Image Search feature is now available for Lite License users! This enhancement directly responds to your feedback, extending visual search capabilities to R&D teams and non-IP specialists who need quick, intuitive ways to explore the patent landscape.
With Image Search for Lite Licenses, your technical teams can now:
- Launch patent searches using any visual material - from patent drawings to whiteboard sketches
- Discover relevant technologies by simply dropping an image into the interface
- Explore innovations through a visual-first approach, complementing traditional text-based searches
This update bridges another gap between IP professionals and R&D teams, making patent searches more accessible to visual thinkers. Introducing Smart Filters
A conversational, proactive assistant to filter your results set like never before

Introducing Smart filters, our latest feature that completely redefines patent dataset analysis. All of the pains that come with classical filtering are replaced by a simple, conversational and proactive assistant that works like an extension of your team.
In short, Smart Filters:
- Help to narrow down patent datasets intuitively by asking questions about them.
- Makes our Multi-patent Ask AI feature directly actionable, by
- detecting if the user asks a Yes/No question,
- answering the question based on each document, including both reasoning and a final answer: “Yes”, “No” or “Maybe”, and
- allowing users to filter their results set using those answers.
- Utilizes a large language model (LLM), currently Anthropic's Haiku 3, trained by IPRally to think like a patent professional, to generate the answers individually from each document.
Smart filters not only removes the need for complex boolean filtering, but it can perform tasks that are practically impossible with Boolean.Learn more about our Smart Filters release and how it’s a major step towards IPRally’s vision of full automation, significantly accelerating patent reviews in our release blog.

Add comments when sharing
Inform your colleagues why you are sharing a search case or collection with them.

When sharing a search case or collection, it is possible to leave a message for the recipients. This allows you to provide context regarding why you share the documents (for example in relation to a specific search project or use case), enabling the recipient to take more informed action on the request.
When you leave a message, your colleague can see it in the notification menu alongside the shared content and in the email notification.

Boolean search improvements
We have taken the next steps in our Boolean search solution

We made the Boolean search experience better. Now, the search is faster and we store the results so that next time you open the search case, the results are unchanged and load instantly. Naturally, you’ll also have the option to refresh the search for the most up to date results.
Searches without wildcards are capped to 50 000 patent families and searches with wildcards are capped to 5000 families, which should satisfy most common needs. Note that full Boolean filtering of AI searches is also available.
The stand-alone Boolean search is still under a Beta flag until we have the Boolean monitoring implementation in place too, and have polished a few things. We are open for feedback.
You can find more information on the Boolean capabilities in the Help Center.

Image search
Image search allows for launching patent searches using versatile image files

Our unique Image search feature allows you to start a patent search with a photo, technical drawing or flow chart, for example. The feature provides a quick start for e.g. novelty, state of the art, FTO or infringement searches, when the image is the best or only starting material available. Combining Generative AI and our core Graph AI in a powerful way, Image search finds similar technology quickly and even from patents without any images. Read more in our Blog.

New AI search model
Graph Transformer 3.0 cuts time and improves confidence of patent searching

Our new AI model, called Graph Transformer 3.0, understands patents and technology again better, and has been released for all users and all search use cases. The model improves search recall by about 10% and cuts the review time needed by even more. Also the custom AI classifier takes advantage of the new model. The model, like our previous models, has been trained using Examiner citations across all fields of technology, and patents converted into knowledge graphs.

Multi-patent Ask AI
Crawling through large amounts of patents got a lot easier

Multi-patent Ask AI extends the capabilities of Ask AI to large data sets: search results and entire Collections. You can ask the same question from all of the documents in a list and get answers in seconds. The feature allows for conveniently reviewing the search results in deep and detailed level to narrow down to the most relevant hits. In addition, the feature enables for example summarization of search and monitoring results for delivery to R&D and (re-)analyzing complete patent portfolios for strategic decision-making.
