After evaluating a range of tools on functionality, usability, and cost, Canada's Global Innovation Cluster for Advanced Manufacturing chose IPRally to power its Patent Search Adoption Tool Pilot Program

HAMILTON, ON and HELSINKI, Finland [14 July, 2026] — Next Generation Manufacturing Canada (NGen), the industry-led, not-for-profit organization leading Canada's Global Innovation Cluster for Advanced Manufacturing, has selected IPRally as the provider and partner for its Patent Search Adoption Tool Pilot Program. The selection followed NGen's evaluation of several patent search tools, with IPRally chosen on the strength of its functionality, usability, and cost.

The Pilot Program gives select NGen-funded companies a pre-paid, one-year license for IPRally's patent intelligence platform. It is part of NGen's work to raise the bar in IP management practices across Canadian advanced manufacturing — a sector where protecting and commercializing innovation matters as much as developing it.

Patent searching has traditionally demanded specialist expertise — Boolean queries, classification codes, and years of training — putting it out of reach for many growing manufacturers. IPRally's graph-based AI, trained to mimic patent professional expertise, removes that barrier: teams search in natural language or by uploading documents and images, and every result comes with explainable reasoning they can defend.

Through the program, participating companies will learn to:

  • Use IPRally's AI-enhanced workflow to overcome the technical barriers that have traditionally gatekept patent searching
  • Gain visibility of the competitive patent landscape and whitespace opportunities
  • Conduct freedom-to-operate (FTO) due diligence to anticipate and avoid costly disputes or technological pivots

NGen will work with IPRally to provide participating companies with the materials, training, and support needed for timely and efficient implementation — including live training sessions, practical examples, and dedicated support from the IPRally team.

"Every company in the NGen ecosystem is solving difficult technical problems, and commercializing those innovations in a protected and unencumbered manner is as important as developing them. We evaluated several competing tools on functionality, usability, and cost, and IPRally stood out. This partnership gives our members access to patent intelligence that previously required specialist expertise most growing manufacturers don't have in-house."

Jérôme Lafrenière, Director of Intellectual Property, NGen
"NGen looked hard at the alternatives before choosing IPRally, and that's exactly how we like to win — on evidence. IPRally understands the technology in patents, not just the words, and utilizes AI to find the answers quickly instead of dwelling on the questions. Whether an NGen member is filing patents regularly or thinking strategically about IP for the first time, our goal is the same: faster, more informed IP decisions without added complexity."

Andreas Cehlinder, Chief Commercial Officer, IPRally

IPRally is used by over 4,000 professionals across 30+ countries. Its proprietary graph-based AI has transformed over 130 million patent documents into knowledge graphs that understand technical structure and functional relationships — finding relevant prior art that keyword matching and generic AI miss, including misclassified documents and unusual terminology.

Since its founding in 2018, NGen has approved 246 projects representing $972M in total innovation investment, generating $8.2B in new industry revenue and 1,795 new IP assets across its 13,000+ member ecosystem.
